Playdough

Today we made green and red playdough. I mixed up a batch and gave him some Christmas cookie cutters and he got busy creating. Here is the recipe I used:

• 1 cup of flour


• 1/2 cup of water


• 1/2 cup of salt


• 3 tbs of oil


• green/red food coloring

I originally only gave him the green playdough, but he wanted red to match his red cookie cutters so I made some more. This was so quick and easy to make and you probably already have all the indgredients you need!

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Next in our series of crafts was a Rudolph made by tracing little man's hands and feet. I traced one foot to make Rudolph's head. I then traced his hands and gave him the paper to color before cutting it out. As you can see one Antler got more attention than the other. And one of his hands is actually not that big; clearly I am a horrible tracer! We cut out the pieces and glued them all together. His favorite part was adding the googly eyes and the sparkly nose!

Paper Bag Christmas Tree

We started our countdown with a nice simple activity...I simply cut out a Christmas tree shape and gave it to little man to color. He wanted a star on top and I originally gave him star stickers to put on it, but he decided car stickers would be better. This was perfect for my two year old, but you could definately spice it up some with an older kid by adding glitter, jewels, pipe cleaner as garland, yarn, the possiblities are endless and my favorite part was that it cost nothing!

Our Countdown Chain

Well I'm about five days behind in getting these posted, but hopefully I can keep up from here on out. We started our Crafty Christmas Countdown by making a paper chain. Each link of the chain has a date and an activity for that day written on it. We hung the chain right by his art table and each day we will remove a link and do the activity. It is a great visual for little man to see how close we are getting to Christmas and he loves pulling off the link to see what it says we are going to do!
